Okay, I'm going to have to do some work on this miserable little site.

Really.

Here's what I am considering:

1) I've been doing work on Drahkimar lately, and I was thinking of making a page in the story section about it as a whole. Just the dynamic of the world, at the least.

A) I have already drawn a general map of Drahkimar, just a vague kind of map that has the most major rivers, the mountains, terrain types, the nations(no borders), and the sea. This is nice for a general background. However, the map, even given the kinds of things it shows, doesn't have enough. For one, it only has arrows pointing west for the Archipelago and the Forbidden Lands. Another problem is the Floating Continent, which isn't marked at all. Obviously, if it were shown, it would cover up the Akarbac desert, both the northern desert kingdom and what part of the sourthen empire that is visible, and half of the Kiricu lands and Ne'annaris, but I could at least ahve a dashed line or something. Then again, the only way it really matters to the people on the lower lands is the Celestial Falls that carved out Alterria from the Keles mountain range(the falls are actually a river that flows off of the Floating Continent), and the stuff involving Melika, Nickorin, and d'Angelo, during the War of the Rend. Hmm... I guess I'll make the dashed line, and draw seperate maps for the Archipelago and the Forbidden Lands. Oh, and maybe some of the stuff way on the other side of the Dominion, far, far to the east. There's another sea there, and some "barbarians" that are occupying the attentions of both the North Army and the East Army. (the South Army is having problems with the Jurungi, and the West Army is advancing through a magic insurgency in east Vakemia... which means that all 2 million war troops of the Dominion have their hands full - amazing how that can happen.)

However, with that base map(which, I'll note, was a pain to draw), I'll made various other versions of it:

Weather patterns - wind and moisture movement as dictated by the mountains, the forests, and The Barrier.

Trade routes - both the major passes, and including routes that don't exist because of the Dominion's war. Perhaps also the materials that move along, and where they are produced.

Borders - There are definate borders for the Kiricu Empire, because of their Barrier and the efforts of the elves(or rather, the fact that the Kiricu would rather harvest elves than wipe out Ne'annaris altogether). There is a border between the Elves and the Jurungi, and a very hazy non-border between the Dominion and Vakemia. However, most borders are just geological. Ne'annaris and Vakemia are seperated by the western Keles mountain range, and the Jurungi and the Dominion are seperated by the eastern Keles mountain range(and the wall that the Imperials built for the area where the Keles mountains are not much more than foothils, but that's a small, bloody place. The desert nations are seperated by the river, and the northern one doesn't go far into the Akarbac.

Cultures - There's actually quite a few cultures around, with interesting mixes, especially in the lands that surrendered to the Dominion in the Three March War. This also would work well with something I'll mention later.

Troops/Wars - a map(or several maps for different centuries) highlighting where the troops and the wars all are. Should be interesting.

Places of interest - a map with marks for such places. Like where one Vakemian kingdom seceded from the world, where Sanctuary is linked to, or where assorted stories take place(though many of them would more of a line, as they are many journeys that take place - Kal in particular gets around, but others, too.)

Magic - Vakemia is an inherently magical place, due to what was there before the apocalyse. But there's also magic over varying sorts in varying places.

B) I love the cultures, the languages, and just a whole lot about Drahkimar's cultures. In terms of the website, I'm considering putting together infomation about government in the assorted cultures, and social/cultural workings(like infomation on Imperial prefixes, or the pact between the Nineteen--though only eight exist now--Linages of Vakemia.)

Also infomation on some prevalent organisations that exist in Drahkimar, including the followers of Aesaral, the Uysaeli, and the trade guild; the government organisations, like the Observers in the Dominion, the priests of the Imperator(bad name - it is directly translated more as "god-emperor," but in a world where gods may exist, I didn't want to use that.), and the Academy of Wizardry that dominates the Northern desert kingdon; as well as specific social groups, such as the Silent in eastern Vakemia, the ne'pawgi ki'janor, and the Kiricu exiles.

Also a bit about the languages. I'm not Tolkein, so the languages aren't usable, but they are often(I'm mostly thinking about the Jurungi langauge and High Elvish here) very interesting in terms of both the mechanics, and the unique history that created them. The Kiricu tongue is interesting in terms of prouncation, as it does not share much with the langauges derived from the various elven languages, and evolved on a drastically different throat... and is also mostly dead, as the public education in Krt'su teaches telepathy as well, which is a much more useful communication method.

Vuglar Elvish is really the only language of mine to exist more in words(I could get by in Jurungi, but that's because it's heavily gestural - I don't know any words), and I'll put infomation on the conjugation, some words, some word-roots, usage, and whatever else I can dredge up. My lack of conscious knowledge in English--I know how to use it perfect, but not how it works--shows through here, and it's helped me in that Vulgar Elvish really isn't based on any language I know. Hmm... I should work on High Elvish dervived Vakemian idioms... that's one thing that I'm lacking. Fun stuff, this all.

But yes, all this kind of stuff on the web, in lists and explanations. I might write essays about some of the particular aspects I mentioned. I'll explain Alterrian's governmental system too, which should be fun.

C) What with maps and lots of text about Drahkimar, there's still a bit of a infomation that is missing. Drahkimar is the place for a lot of stories I have in mind, as well as many happenings that I'll never really make into stories. From these, there are many, many notable characters. I think I could write up short bios on the characters that you probably won't see(Erithir? t'Lira? d'Angelo? Prince Alexander? Miria? The Witch and her son?), as well as non-spoilery bios on the characters that you may know(with spoiler sections, for those who have read, I suppose).

D) The other possiblity is full-out creating a website for Drahkimar. What with all the stuff I have to say, it would definately be more than a page in the stories section. I guess the page in the story section would be more of an abstract, and a link.

2) I have noticed that much of the infomation this the stories section is out of date, or badly(in a variety of ways) written. Both of those reflect badly on me for prospective readers. I need to do work on updating those pages.

One of the major problems regarding this is the annoyance I have in making the pages. When I make a major new page, I have to update the list in every other. This is slightly remedied by having sub-sub sections, with navigation within that, but as a whole...

In other works, I'm thinking of geting a better web page creator. Mozilla Composer is nice and all, but there has to be something free out there that is better.

3) I have gotten several comments on how my site's colors are ugly. This is true, perhaps. White and black is a pain. Other comments have concerned the lack of a background image - it's basic human desire to like what's in nature, and the look of my site doesn't even resemble anything fractal.

So, now that you people have proven that the comment feature is not broken--thank you Tambur and Faile--I am going to ask a few questions, and get some user feedback.

Questions:

How much infomation do you think I should do on Drahkimar?

What free, downloadable web page composers do you recommend?

What colors would you like for this site?

What colors would you like for the possible Drakimar site?

What part of what I've said do you want me to implement first?

Oh, and the Fantasy Cliche meter puts me at 35, which is higher than some of my characters.

I finished drawing the rough map of Drahkimar(where a whole bunch of my stories take place). In theory, I should start a sub-section of the story section that deals with Drakimar, and has all the little essays, legends, and stuff linked to it(two legends are on fictionpress right now).

I really should. At home, with my Mozilla Composer, at least making one page. It's not hard, what with the template I made and all.

Of course, that is assuming I had the time.

As it stands, I am working on Phoenix Blood. I've loaned my gamecube to a friend, so I won't wind up play Tales of Symphonia(great game) or Metroid Prime: Echoes (another great game). Or even just firing up Super Smash Bros: Melee, and going against the CPU(Completely Predictable Upponent). I've banned myself from playing any FFRPGs on the web until I finish Phoenix Blood, as the last one I played* spawned the idea for "Dusk," and the last thing I need is yet another story idea on the wings - my writing history shows that to be a bad idea.*

As I type this, I am at school, feeling tired and verbose. Phoenix Blood is 46 pages long, and several people are reading it right now:

The cool Orange Lettuce, who happens to be going to Satori, has read and needs to get back to me.

The lovely DolphinCheddar, who happens to be the most awesome(and only) redneck girl I know, needs to read Phoenix, and, assuming she has started, is reading a version that is ten pages out of date. (I have a writerly crush on this person)

SlightFoxing, TruthSpeaker, who gives wonderful, obvious insights into what I am blind about, has yet to read the latest version, but is doing a great job so far. (I have a writerly crush on this person as well)

Aurora, A.K.A. Dawn-the-Writer, who is a good friend I met at Satori(be there, you silly wiccan), does not have the story, but should get it soon. I forgot last time I was able to access my email.

The Indescribable Ivegotanaxe, another close friend from the great camp(and my girlfiend's best friend), should have recieved the email with it, and should remember, like the person below, that, for some funky reason, freewebs is case sensitive in URLs. Don't CAP anything, you, and you better remember east-coast swing when you get to camp.

Raigeki, a younger man who doesn't like history, should be getting an email just like Ivegotanaxe(love you, missy, but your username is a pain), and should be soon reading both Phoenix Blood, and the first of many history books I have in line for him. It's better than playing the Gamecube I lended him.

Interesting bunch. Five girls and one guy(hmm...). Three older, three younger. Three I have met in real life, and three I have not.

Of course, there is one person who just emailed me to that she would like me to send her my writing - my thrice beloved girlfriend and soulmate Toshi. Since she can't print it from the web, or read it from the computer, I suppose I will have to send a hard copy.

Hmm... I wonder how much 50 pages would cost to be sent to Japan? And then I could send another envelope every time I got a new letter from her, with my response within.

Possiblities.

Hard copy seems so strange to me. When I turned 16, Ivegotanaxe left her ring behind at my house. I found it, and my first reaction was "Great. I'll attach it to my next email."

This thought lasted all the way to the computer.

Yes, I am very much a digital person. I communicate largely via the web, and spend my time typing stories on the computer. Physical mail is so strange to me. Indeed, the name betrays that: When I say "mail" I mean email... "snail mail" or, more politely, "Physical mail," is what I call those paper things with addresses that are a pain to handwrite. (Fact of the day - I still suck at handwriting - it's hard to read, slow as a drunk turtle, and hurts my hand badly)

Another curious thing on this writer's mind: Why am I being so unnaturally vebose?

Today I got up, waited for painters while emailing two friends, bussed to SMC, talked with my professor about a bunch of interesting things, took said professor's class, talked to him afterwards about a bunch of interesting things, changed clothes for track... Then Track/PE. I swear I'm addicted to winning. My Evolutionary Psychology professor noted today that winning causes a burst of testosterone, so that might be literally true. I'm definately much cruder and aggressive after winning something... even a chess game. Anyway, I'm addicted to winning in PE. Since I'm heavily egocentric about some things(not all justified), if I were to start off a run with a war cry, mine would be "For Glory!"

Winning screws up my pacing. I'm faster than everyone else, but have much less endurance. But I still have to win.

Today, we did skips and running around the bleachers, then x10 150m runs. Now, 150 is a new one to me. I only started this formal running gig this quarter, and it sounds a lot like a spring to me. Even x10.

First out of ten, I blew past the competition, meters ahead.

Second out of ten, I was behindbecause of the curve(no adjustment in this case), but changed my tempo, used some of the art, and sped up. I passed my opponent ten meters from the line.

Third out of ten, I was pooped. I lagged about ten feet behind the other guy the whole way.

Now, the coach had split us into pairs for this exercise. I was paired with the other fastest guy. He's not as good a sprinter, and can't use the full potencial of his body's energy, but he has a lot more endurance... you know, he probably doesn't sit in front of a computer most of the day.

At the end of the third 150, I was in trouble. My right shoulder joint hurt like hell, a sign of me overusing my power, and I was drained. And could feel vomiting on the way.

Now, it's not polite to vomit during class. So I went to the bathroom, and got to the stall just as I started heaving. It was a burnished stainless steel bowl, quite un-attractive. The stall was small, anhd reflected my body heat, turning hot and steamy in a few moments.

So I heaved over the toliet for about a minute. During this time I was seeing stars, and the other stuff that is indicative of "not being in best form."

Eventually, I recovered enough that I wasn't heaving, and soon my mind was working too. It occured to me the reason I hadn't vomited was the lack of a brunch - I had eaten earily because of having to wait for the painters.

It also occured to me that this could be the cause of me being so drained - I was out of carbs to burn.

I headed back onto the track, told the coach what I could. I joined the two slowest people until I was sure of myself.

Turns out it really didn't affect my speed, just my endurance. For the last ten meters, I lunged into a stride, and blew past the people in the group in front of mine. Not bad.

The next (second to last) run I ran at a moderate, non-competitive pace, until the last twenty meters I let loose and flew. Fast. Yes, I could still run, but I could feel my endurance flagging.

Now, I mentioned earlier that 'the other fastest guy' couldn't 'the full potencial of his body's energy.' That fact is a safe-guard in most humans, one that I can ignore quite easily. However, there are drawbacks.

If my war cry is "For glory," then you should have realised that, in terms of running, I would follow achilles's choice any race.

I decided that, since I wouldn't be able to do much else afterwards, I would run this last one limitless, and full out. Not my brightest idea, but my brain was kind of addled at this point.

So I ran. Full-out. Holding nothing back.

I bobbed down at the start for a little boost, and my first ten steps(is faile here?) put me far ahead of my fellow last-groupers. I didn't slow down from there, but rather put full, anaerobic force into motoring my legs, then, when I hit the limit of how fast my legs moved, I added my hips to lengthen my stride, and shifted my arms to a lateral swing to counterbalance my torso's rapid twisting. I blew past the group infront of my starting group, and then the group in front of them. My hair(which is long and annoying) was pulled by the wind behind me, and my vision blurred. My mind was in that one-track(pun!) set that focused entirely on augmenting the force and effeciency of my running, with a slight bit helping me avoid the other runners.

I ran...

I passed the finish line rather fast, and then broke my concentration, which let me discharge my momentum with ineffiencient leg motions.

And then the tiredness hit.

Brain-tired, muscle-tired, with blood-sugar levels way too low. The world swan in front of my eyes, and I found myself sitting down. A guy pulled me up, reminding me something about not sitting, and I picked up my water bottle with shaking fingers. My vision flickered around on the way back to where the track/PE people were collecting, and I don't think I knew what I was doing, beyond following the person in front of me. My legs were shot, and I barely could stay upright... thankfully, my leg muscles rest very quickly, so this wasn't a problem for more than the first few steps.

Oh, and did I mention I was brain tired? If you want stories to tell your grand nephews, don't get brain-tired.

I think I talked to the coach, as I was in no shape to do the running on the bleacher he hadn't wanted us about. WHatever I did, I found myself stumbling over to my backpack, and sitting down next to it.

I was going off the field, I know that, but I couldn't quite carry my backpack yet - I did in a few memoments thought, so I grabed the great heavy thing, and hobbled over to the building.

There's a bench outside the building, so I lay down there.

Now, my mind what shot at this point, as it I wasn't able to think very much. MyFirst Responder training isn't something I have to think much about.

It popped into my mind that my symptoms were close to shock, so I propped legs up a bit. Then it occured to me that I could be going into epyletic shock(like a diabetic, though for different reasons) so got up, got my wallet, and both gatorade, which is currently a sugar drink that people think is healthly(Plus it has salt, which is good in this circumstance).

I drank, and lay down, too tired to sleep. I considered the 'stars' that were floating around my vision. It occurred to me, like it does every time I see stars in a... lacking state of mind, that they don't really look so much like stars as spots that flicker between brighter and darker than the surrounding vision.

At some point, I realised that my class had finished. I took this as my cue to get up and go get food.

I bought a fruit salad first, and had the most trouble with the money. I didn't count very well, and was clumsy. Thankfully, I was too tired to be self-concious, or I would have been massively embarassed by the fact that my entire body was shaking.

I ate the food, and felt a little bit better. Gatorade is sickly sweet, so I diluted it with my water to make it more patalable.

I then went and got some teriakyi chicken and noodles. Not bad, and I finished the rest of my gatorade, dropping my bottle into the recycling bin.

I changed out of my track clothes, as the lack of pockets annoys me severely, and headed to the lybrary. I was mostly back, though probably not right in the head.

I had to put something on the web in a place Ivegotanaxe and Raigeki could find it, but I figured that I would write a short blurb, as my emails to them was censured by lack of time.

So I wrote a bit. And a little bit more. Then I realised I had filled a page, and spilled into the next, so I changed something and decided to finish that page and draw the line there. I did. Then I uploaded to this site.

Since I was on the inside of my site, I decided to write a update entry telling people that I should be updating the site with a Drahkimar page, and that I wasn't because of Phoenix Blood, but, as you have doubtless noticed, I got kind of sidetracked.

I better end this here, and go up and add links.

Well, not ended yet, but at least I didn't link every noun to a wikipedia page and every other word to a web-dictionary. And now for the foot note I rememberd about

*: My writing history is as such: Trazin's tale, got sidetracked by tLR, which got sidetracked by tToKE, which was killed by Mark Twain's writing style, which left room for Wander, which got forgotten in the editing of Broken, which finished when I started several stories at the same time, which narrowed down to Prince Liles, which was found to be bad and was replaced by Phoenix Blood, which I had to write twenty pages of for the ASU writers conference, and swore to finish. Raigeki, this is the practical, albeit small-scale, application of history:

My longer stories die when I get new, better ideas.

Anyway, have a good day, and don't forget to comment on this laborious entry.
