I'm really tired. So sleepy, wish I could just take a nap here at my desk. I almost am. Did nothing all day again today. It's almost 5:30! And tomorrow's Friday & then the weekend! Yay. Weekends and sleep are the only things I have to look forward to these days. And my tv shows, which I sleep through anyway cuz I'm too tired after work. My life is so boring.

My Obsessive Fanaticism; Or: Geekdom and Nerdocity

At work again. Still doing nothing. CPA review stuff arrived today. Not in the mood to start that quite yet. Payday tomorrow! And then weekend!
To occupy my time, I will be writing more in my blog.

I've noticed that I'm very defensive of the stuff I like. Anybody insults anything I like (ex: my fandoms) or even just expresses a slightly negative opinion against it, and I get majorly miffed. I take it personally. It's hypocritical and not fair, but that's how it is. I don't agree with what you say? You're wrong. Your opinion is wrong. I'm right. You're wrong if you don't like what I like. I'm disagreeable like that.
A little afraid of showing my extreme obsessiveness and fanaticism over stuff. I am a total nerd. (And proud of it!) I get totally obsessed over stuff once I like something. Star Wars, Harry Potter, LOTR for awhile, Heroes, The Office, Veronica Mars, and various other movies/shows that are too numerous to name. I like doing computer stuff. Love the obscure nerdy references on Chuck, 30 Rock, etc. Liz Lemon with her nerdiness and awesomeness is who I aspire to be, seriously. I think any boyfriend I have in the future would have to like this stuff also or else be open to being bombarded with it and heavily recruited by me. If you know all the references in my subtitle above (the DeLorean, TARDIS, time turners, or Hiro Nakamura) and their respective fandoms? Hey, I will love you forever. Say you don't like [insert any of my fandoms here]/never heard of it/think it's lame/etc.? Watch your back. Okay, not so extreme. But in my head: extreme.
I'm also very competitive. I HAVE to know more about this stuff than you do. Cuz you're wrong.

Hmm. This does not seem at all attractive. Oh well, nobody is reading my blog anyway. And if you are, at least you know part of the real me.

Bored Out of My Mind

I'm SOOO bored! I had little to do at work before. Now that it's after October 15, the mini-tax season, I've got absolutely nothing to do right now. And it's probably going to be like this for the rest of the year. I don't know what to do with myself. I'm sitting at my computer reading stuff online, but I can only sit and read so much. I'd so rather be sleeping at home, or go out and go shopping or something. The Baltimore inner harbor is right outside, I should go for a walk. I can go shopping at the Gallery down the street. I spent yesterday doing absolutely nothing. Oh wait, I scanned something into the computer.
What I SHOULD do is study and read up on the training manuals I got, since I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. But I have a feeling I know how that's gonna work out. I'm so ADD, I can't be all productive and pro-active like that.
I do have training seminars all day tomorrow and Friday to keep me occupied though.
At least CPA review starts on November 5.
I'm also freezing right now. My hands are like ice.
I feel like watching a movie or something.
Whatever. More later.

From the desk of Jennifer P. Vo...

Damn it! I just spent like half an hour writing this long post, and accidentally clicked the back button or something and it all got erased! Grrrr! On my home computer, it usually gets autosaved at least. Actually, I'm seeing "autosaved draft" at the bottom of this post right now. Where is my post then?!! GRRRR. Writing this all over again.

Working Hard or Hardly Working (Har har har...so original!)
I'm at work, sitting at my desk in my cubicle with no work to do. Which is typical of my workday. Work has been pretty good. Everyone is really nice. Been learning on the job some. Sometimes I'll have stuff to do. Did my first individual return on my own the other day. Most of the time, though, I'm just sitting at my computer bored, surfing the net, reading stuff online. I've learned some origami: a jumping frog, a flying crane, a rose. I've done a lot of virtual shopping on Sephora's website (I want every single makeup set they have!), reading fashion/beauty blogs, tv blogs, tech blogs - learning how to back up, clean up and customize my computer at home. I'm writing on my blog. I've had a lot of free time. That's alright though. All of this free time will be made up for when busy season hits in January.

Applied to take the CPA exam. Now I have to register for Becker review courses. Not sure if I should do online classes or self-study CD-ROMs. I have no self-discipline, and I'm lazy and a procrastinator. So online courses would give me the structure I need to actually accomplish anything and pass the exam. HOWEVER, classes start in November, which is good since I'll still have nothing to do then, but the majority of the course is Jan-April, which is busy season, when I'll probably have no free time. And classes are on Mondays, and I don't know if I'll be able to attend the online classes while I have work. So CD-ROMs would be better with the flexibility.
So, should I register for online classes or the CD-ROMs? Actually, I think I'm allowed to switch formats before the second section starts, which is right around the time busy season starts as well. So I'll take the online class for the first section, then switch to the CDs. I think I'll do that then. If I take the review classes and pass all 4 parts, I'm supposed to be finished by May. Hope so, I want it out of the way. Okay, I'll stop thinking out loud now. Or online, really.

A Few of My Pet Peeves:
- Drivers who don't use their turn signal. This is lazy and inconsiderate. Use your turn signal!
- Baltimore streets. My new car will be busted up in no time, since I have a hard time avoiding the holes and bumps. Like I said earlier, I have no sense of the space around my car. And my car is small anyway, not even a big hunking SUV. (And my dad wanted me to get an SUV. Yeah right. I've already demonstrated I can't drive a small coupe without scratching it up. I know its really because he wanted to have an SUV though.)

New Shows I Love:
- Chuck. Zachary Levi is very adorkable, and the show is really fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. And Captain Awesome!
- Pushing Daisies. So whimsical and Dr. Seuss-like. Great fairy-tale quality. And Lee Pace is also adorable. As is the character of Chuck. (Another Chuck? There's yet another character by that name on Gossip Girl as well.)
- Dirty Sexy Money.
If only I could stay awake and watch entire episodes without falling asleep. Not enough time in the day that's taken up by work. Doing nothing. Wake up at 6/6:30. Dangerously tired driving home @ 5:30. Home @ 6:30. Dinner, sleepy, watch tv, sleepy, on the computer, sleepy. Fall into bed way too late. Repeat.

30 Rock
Liz Lemon is my nerdgirl hero! Read this: Liz Lemon's Top Nerd-tastically Nerdy Moments. I'm so her at times. Especially the Star Wars love. Nerd Girls Unite!

Did you really read all that crap? You did? What are you doing with your time? I guess validating what I'm doing with my time. Thanks! Maybe I'll post some more while I'm bored again at work.

Hmm, maybe I should stop tagging my posts "random", since all of my posts are basically random.
